Spirit of Adventure Book Preview

Hello fellow Scouters,

Several Scouting bloggers were fortunate to receive an advanced copy of Alvin Townley’s second book on Eagle Scouts – “Spirit of Adventure - Eagle Scouts and the Making of America’s Future”. This book is scheduled for publication this May. (Mr. Townley’s first book was “Legacy of Honor”).

I received it last Friday, and have read a couple of chapters. Although I’ve really just started the book, I can already tell that it’s an incredible book. I am having a tough time putting it down.

From what I’ve read up to now, this book shows the quality of the  character of those who earn the rank of Eagle. It also shows how Scouting builds the character in those that are in the program, whether they earn this rank or not. I know this will sell well to those in Scouting. My hope is that this book is read by those outside of the Scouting program.
